Enactment of Sub. for HB 2066

Substitute (Sub.) for HB 2066 was enacted by the 2021 Legislature creating an expedited pathway for reciprocal licensure of certain applicants and creating an alternate licensure process for individuals seeking a license through reciprocity. The effective date of the bill is July 1, 2021. Applicants who may qualify include military service members, military spouses, applicants who reside in Kansas, or applicants who intend to reside in Kansas. Among other requirements for the alternate reciprocity licensure process, qualifying applicants must hold a current valid license in another jurisdiction, not have past or pending disciplinary actions, and must have practiced in the profession for which they seek licensure for at least one year. Reciprocity applications on the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board website have been updated to request additional information to determine if applicants meet the new provisions in the bill, so applicants do not need to submit a special application for consideration under Sub. for HB 2066.
