These are for new applicants for social work licensure

Licensure Requirements

Licensed Bachelor Social Worker

Bachelors degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited program or meets the requirements of K.A.R. 102-2-6
References completed on Board provided forms from at least 2 social workers licensed at or above the Bachelors level, and a third reference from an on-site practicum supervisor (merits public trust)
Transcript showing degree granted
Passing the Bachelors Level competency exam The ASWB exam is offered daily once registered with the BSRB.

Licensed Master Social Worker

Masters degree In Social Work from an CSWE accredited program or meets the requirements of K.A.R. 102-2-6

LSCSW Training Plan

Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker

Masters degree in Social Work
References completed on Board provided forms from at least 2 social workers licensed at or above the Clinical level, and a third reference from a work supervisor (merits public trust)
Transcript showing degree granted
3,000 hours of post-graduate supervised clinical work experience in a clinical setting with supervisor’s attestation.
Passing the ASWB Clinical examination. The ASWB exam is offered daily once registered with the BSRB.

LSCSW Reciprocity
LBSW or LMSW Reciprocity
This is for social workers currently licensed in another state and seeking to be licensed in Kansas
Out of State Permit
This permit should be used by Out-Of-State Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Workers who wish to provide services in the State of Kansas or for the residents of Kansas, for a limited amount of time. This is for currently licensed social workers at the independent level. When approved, a temporary permit will allow for 30 days of practice in the year the temporary permit is active.
